Sterling silver comb back/frame made by the Newark, New Jersey company, Unger Brothers. This design was copyrighted in 1904 and is marked as such on the sterling comb frame. The sterling frame also has the Unger Brothers logo stamped on it with the word sterling and 925. There is a catalog number 8060 stamped onto the sterling comb back as well.
The silver is in very good antique condition and the comb itself has been replaced with a new, not used before comb with 1/2 and 1/2 wide and fine teeth. The comb is approximately 7 5/8 inches long.
The design motif is of 2 cherubs or putti with one of them 'stealing a kiss'. Unger Brothers named this pattern "STOLEN KISS" and this pattern was made available in many forms other than a comb. So, an entire set of STOLEN KISS could be collected.
The sterling comb frame is one of the harder to find pieces in this series as the frames were often damaged and lost. We do have more sterling silver comb frames available besides STOLEN KISS, so if you are looking for other designs that may match or better compliment your vanity set, we may have one that will work for you. We have over 40 sterling combs in stock made by Unger Bros., Tiffany, Gorham, Kirk, Kerr, Webster, etc. All have been refurbished if necessary and have had new combs inserted so they are perfectly usable.
