Unusual nice pair of silver flower baskets or bride's baskets made in Hanau, Germany by Hanauer Silberwaren-Manufaktur in the late 1800s. One of the baskets is hallmarked on the side of the basket and the other is hallmarked on the bottom of the basket. One basket is engraved on the bottom with the date "DEC 25 1932", obviously a later inscription years after making. It is interesting to note that the date of 1932 is during the great depression making silver baskets a highly luxurious gift. Single baskets are difficult to find, but a pair is even more uncommon.
The baskets to the top of the handle measures approximately 14 inches tall and are about 10 inches by 7 inches at the widest length and width. Height of baskets without handle up is about 8 1/2 inches. Both baskets do have an oval green glass liner that hold water so that live flowers can be used in the baskets. The liners appear to be hand blown and fit properly. I am assuming that they are original.
The baskets are in very good antique condition showing little age appropriate wear. Both of the handles do swing easily and stay up on their own. International customers are free to inquire.
