This sterling silver and black plastic mid century modern sugar bowl and cream pitcher set was made by the Gorham Mfg. Co. in 1956 according to the date mark on the bottom of the creamer. Gorham called this pattern Directional and it was introduced 1955. Directional was designed by Phillip Bernard Johnson.

This sugar and creamer set is pictured in the American modern silver book written by Jewel Stern on page 223. The sugar bowl is approximately 4 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches and the cream pitcher is about 4 1/4 inches tall to the top of the black handle. This set is in excellent vintage condition show very little age appropriate wear.
