This wonderful sterling silver inkwell stand holds an inkwell that has a sterling lid with a cut glass/crystal base. The inkstand was made in London in 1894 and the inkwell itself was made in Sheffield in 1894. Both pieces were made by Thomas Bradbury & Sons that had operations in both London and Sheffield. Both the tray and the inkwell are fully hallmarked.
Neither the stand nor the inkwell are monogrammed and both are of a simple design motif. Both are basically plain except that the edges of both pieces have gadrooning. The stand is on four legs that have vertical lines and pad paw feet. There is a square gallery centered on the stand that the inkwell rests in that is also gadrooned.
The tray has handles and is approximately six inches by four and an eighth inches without the handles and is about seven and three eighths with the handles. The tray is approximately one and three eighths inches tall. The inkwell by itself is about one and a half inches square and close to two inches tall with the lid closed.
The inkwell and stand are both in very good antique condition and the glass appears to have no chips or even fleabites.
