Bernice Goodspeed moved to Mexico City in 1930 and eventually ended up in the Taxco art colony. Bernice, like William Spartling, considered herself to be an author. To support herself and her artist husband she also designed and sold jewelry in a shop that they owned in Taxco. Bernice died in 1971.
This handmade sterling silver loop handled baby spoon is a rarity. It is only the second piece of Bernice's work that I have had in stock that was not a piece of jewelry in over 35 years of selling Mexican maker silver wares.
This spoon measures approximately 3 1/2 inches long and the handle is decorated with what I believe to be a frog, handmade, of Bernice's design. This spoon is in excellent vintage condition showing little age appropriate wear.
