This ring is in the style of Southern Mexico and Guatemala, ancestral home of the Aztec, Olmec and Mayan peoples. Since the time of the Conquistadores, Guatemala has been a known source for jadeite. Although not of the gemmy quality of jadeite from Burma, this jade was fashioned into stone axes because it resists breakage as well as ornaments and ceremonial objects. The jadeite is found in the southeastern mountains of Guatemala.
