Rare illustrations by noted French artist Andre Durenceau.
Mixed media illustrations created with gouache & charcoal on paper.
Possibly a Moroccan couple - The woman inspecting pottery, the man inspecting a ceramic cross.
Each are wearing bright and colorful costumes and are illustrated in a high Art Deco style.
Both of the illustrations are signed by the artist.
Dimensions of the woman 9" x 13". Her frame measures 14.25" x 21.5".

While a resident of Los Angeles in the early 1930s, Durenceau painted a mural of Samson and Delilah in the Leimert Theater and worked in the art department as a color advisor at Technicolor Studios.
Andre Durenceau illustrated several books, including "The Selfish Giant" (1932) by Oscar Wilde. (A signed copy of this book is included with these two illustrations - The book is in poor condition and is included in "as is" condition - Signed by Durenceau)
