C F Monroe, Wavecrest Cigar Box c. 1890-1910

This is a C F Monroe, Wavecrest Cigar Box circa 1899-1910. This Wavecrest, Egg Crate, Cigar box is 6 1/2” wide, 5 1/4” high and 6 1/2” deep. The opalescent milk glass was made by C F Monroe in their Wavecrest pattern. The box has a tight ormolu collar and nice floral scroll trim on the corners. The word, “cigars” is hand painted on the front. The gilding is very worn but the underlying pink paint is all intact. Each of the other sides and the top is decorated with spider mums and foliage. This is a beauty and functional. The company ran this line 1890-1910 and employed artists to decorate this line. Thanks for looking. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have.
