This Victorian c 1880's French jet Opera necklace is a little more unusual than most you see as it has a combination of
faceted, long oval beads combined with large and small circular faceted beads whereas most
examples only have one size and shape of beads. French jet necklaces were popularized by Queen Victoria
when she was in mourning after the death of her beloved husband Albert. The women of the kingdom followed
her example because she was so beloved to them. It has its original simple brass circle clasp and is hand-knotted.
