This extremely rare French sable beaded purse dates to 1800 or earlier and came from a spectacular local estate purse collection. It is finely beaded with a blue/gold winged cherub standing in front of a large Georgian basket of flowers. He is holding a flower he has selected from the basket. The back of the purse has a French verse done in script in faceted gold beads on a clear sparkly white beaded background. It translates : "I look for the most faithful". The purse has a gilded ormolu metal frame and a the softest white kid leather lining which has been hand sewn onto the frame. Another interesting thing about this purse is that it has a metal chain with a metal barrel style clasp which unscrews. It could have been meant to hang from a belt.
An amazing, adorable French one of a kind beaded purse from the Georgian period! A real collectors example!
