This is a rare piece as only 2500 were made World wide. This piece is by The House Of Carl Faberge'. It was made in 1984 and was commissioned by The Franklin Mint. 14k yellow gold with genuine gemstones.... 6 diamonds, 3 sapphires, and 3 aquamarines and is a work of art!!
With so few having been made they are quite rare and I have only seen a handful ever come up for sale.
The enameling called Plique A Jour is a very difficult process, to find out how this is done and just how difficult it is to achieve such a piece you can google Plique A Jour process on line. The colors in this beauty are stunning! Teal blue, royal blue and emerald green. This is a pin, brooch though they do now make a converter that enables you to wear items such as this as pendants.
Measurements are 37mm tall by 51mm wide so it is over 2inches wide. 2 diamonds for the eyes, 2 diamonds with a sapphire in the middle across the top of the top wings, 3 aquamarines running down the body and a larger sapphire for the tail which measures about 3x4mm. The gems are genuine and natural not synthetics or lab.
In excellent condition, no damages at all to the enameling or anywhere on the piece. Any lines you see in the enameling are part of the enameling not damage. Remember these photos are super enlarged!!
I do not have the original certificate, though I do have a copy.
Marked FM 14k on back of piece which is in a crevice of the pin and at an angle that cannot pick up the marking in photo. The gold content as well as the gems were tested and confirmed by my longtime Jeweler as 14k yellow gold.
