This is one gorgeous souvenir spoon. It is in very good condition with normal wear with the exception of the small linear ding at the tip of the underside of the bow as shown in the last picture. This remarkable spoon has the Statue of Liberty as the handle, a very wide handle I might add. The torch is lit into the bowl which has the windmill, beaver and wooden barrels depicted. The top of the handle has the American eagle on top of a rising sun over the ocean with sailing vessels and Excelsior written at the bottom. The back of the handle is the reverse of the front. A really beautiful piece. The detail of Lady Liberty is fantastic down to the folds of her robe. The spoon is 5 3/4" in length and weighs a heavy 38.4 grams or 1.23 ozt. (1.35 ounces). Stamped sterling with the George W. Shiebler & Co. hallmark of New York (1876-1907).
