This beautiful pill box is in excellent condition with such a nice patina that I decide to leave it on. Rather large for a pill box but it might have been used as a compact at one time or another, not really sure. The front design is what is striking with an outstanding acanthus design. The bottom is marked Made in French Indo-China which would put this in the 1940's. There is no sterling mark but tests sterling. There is another three letter mark of DA-. The third letter is unreadable. This box is quite heavy for its size at 83.6 grams or 2.69 ozt (2.95 ounces). It measures 2 3/4" by 2 5/16" and it is about 1/2" thick. There is a perimeter residue on the bottom where a sticker may have been, easy to clean but it may take some of the patina off. Also, it comes with a cloth bag. The hinged lid works perfect and closes nicely and snug.
