This sterling match safe is in good condition less the several dings going from the inside out on the back side as shown and normal wear. The front has a slight thumb depression from use as is often seen for an item of this age. The front has a pretty scene of palm tree, sailboat and house. The bottom has beautiful acanthus scrolls as does above the scene. The back is monogrammed in fancy script with what appears to be G.H. Steljes (if you see different let me know) and above it on the lid is engraved lightly 1889. The spring and hinge work great, opening and closing with a snap. This piece measures 2 1/4" by 1 3/8". The bezel is marked sterling. There is no makers mark apparent. The weight is 24.9 grams.
