This frame by silversmith Wm. B Kerr & Co. (1899-1927, purchased by Gorham in 1906) is in very good condition. The top of the frame has a beautiful flower and design with acanthus filling in the rest of the frame. At the bottom of the frame is engraved in capitol letters M.W.P. The sterling frame sits on two balled feet. It is hallmarked with the Kerr hallmark, sterling and 2970E. The original felt backing has a lot of wear as most of the felt is gone except around the borders as shown. The component that attaches the backing to the leg is missing. This keeps the leg from spreading out all the way back. The sterling frame measures 5 1/2" by 4 1/4" and the picture portion is 4 1/2" by 3 1/4". I like the fact that this piece is all original as often the case, newer backing and legs are installed taking away the vintage of the piece.
