This match safe is in excellent condition. There is one very shallow ding above the monogram, barely noticeable. There are no other dings or dents to this piece. It is in incredible condition. The beautiful art nouveau design covers the front and back with flowers and acanthus. It is monogrammed in a fancy script with what appears to be LJD. The striker is in very good condition and the spring and hinge work great, opening and closing as expected. This is a thinner match safe than many you see about 3/8" thick. It is 2 5/8" by just over 1 3/4". The bezel is stamped sterling, the Battin Hallmark and the number 280. A great collectors piece. Battin & Co. was in business in Newark, NJ from 1896 to 1922.
