This souvenir spoon by A. F. Towle is in very good condition. This spoon is in the Towle 1897 Wentworth pattern. The bowl depicts Lewis and Clarke being escorted by Sacagawea with the wording Portland Exposition Portland 1905-. What's interesting is the back of the spoon has the A. F. Towle hallmark and the box that sterling might have been stamped but it was professionally etched over with a very nice design and the German silver was stamped next to it. Testing shows it doesn't appear to be silver but maybe the nickel composition associated with the term German silver. Regardless, the bowl is done beautifully.
