This sterling purse made by R. Blackinton Co. of Massachusetts is in very good condition commensurate for its age. There are a few minor pinpoint dings on the back but the front is immaculate. The interior fabric has some wear and staining but it does not detract from its beauty or usefulness. What I find fascinating about this piece is the face on the front. See the picture and you'll see what I mean. Also, there appears to be a fish/serpent with its mouth open in each of the top right and left corners. Almost something from a Dr. Seuss book. It is monogramed with what appears to be a stylized MLB. The hinge and clasp work perfectly.
The attached chain is approximately 15". The dimensions of the purse are 3 5/8" wide by 2 7/8" high and about 1/2" thick. The total weight with the fabric lining is 3.96 ozt.
The artwork on the front of this piece makes this a very attractive item to own.
