For your consideration is a contemporary artisan necklace made with vintage glass beads from Japan and a carved Jade pendant from China.
The necklace measures 24 inches in length. A gold plate lobster claw clasp, set with Cubic Zirconia, is used to secure the piece when worn. The Japanese glass beads are pink Tombo beads from Old Japan and Cherry Brand beads from mid 20th century Japan. The Tombo beads are a tube shape with flecks of yellow, white, blue, and red sprinkled atop the base pale pink colored bead, then fired a second time in the kiln. The Tombo beads are knotted on "satanique" cord with cranberry Rose "Cherry Brand" glass beads in the shape of blossoms. They were made in Japan from 1945 to 1951. The beads are (NOS) new old stock and have not been previously sold or made into jewelry. Spaced between the glass beads are 13 mm round Grade A freshwater cultured pearls with a creamy luster and beautiful orient.
The Jade pendant was carved in China between 1950 and 1980. It is a beautiful grey-green and white color Jadite piece in a Cicada motif. The insect is a traditional subject matter of Chinese culture and represents "rebirth." This pendant measures 2 inches in length and one inch in width. It is carved on both sides with a high polish. It is in good condition without chips or scratches to its surface.
This is a "one of a kind" necklace with a special pendant and would make a beautiful gift.
