Provenance: Owned by the same family from 1890 to 2006. Damage to pedestal described as happening between 1905 and WWI. Item professionally repaired. The last family member with knowledge of the repair died in 1986 at the age of 91 years. The teapot has been in storage with extended family members since that time.
This beautiful antique teapot dates between 1889 and 1894. The bottom of the square pedestal has the green Ceramic Arts Company pallette hallmark used during that time frame. This teapot was produced prior to the CAC American Belleek Company being taken over by the Lenox Company.
The teapot is a "square plinth pedestal," hand-painted in the Art Nouveau French design " Roses and Jewels."
The porcelain is cream-white painted in French Turquoise with gold garlands decorated with pink and yellow roses.
The teapot was a wedding gift to a family member in 1889. It sustained damage to the pedestal after 1905 and prior to WWI. It was professionally repaired and used as a decorative display from that time forward. The repair can be seen with the use of black light as demonstrated in one of the photos. The exterior of the teapot at the pedestal does not show the repair work. There is one 2 inches graze line on one side of the teapot. The gold guild paint is in excellent condition as well as the painted roses. There are no further chips or cracks to detract from the beauty of this remarkable piece of American porcelain history.
The teapot measures 7 inches high and 9 inches wide from the edge of its handle to the tip of its spout. The bowl of the teapot is 6 inches in diameter with a 2-inch opening. The lid is 2 1/2 inches in diameter.
This item could be professionally restored using modern techniques. It has been priced accordingly.
It would also make a very nice piece for an "entry-level" collector. A solid place to begin collecting American Belleek and other porcelain antiques.
The antique teapot has been professionally packed for fragile shipment and is offered with free shipping.
