Blushed pink Peruvian opal beads are cut and faceted into rondelle shapes and knotted on silk chord with a hand carved Buddha pendent to make this one of a kind necklace. The 17.5 inch necklace has a hand made sterling silver and Peruvian opal clasp for closure.
The Buddha pendent is hand carved from an oval shaped Peruvian opal cabochon that measures 1 1/2 inches long by 3/4 of an inch wide and 10 mm thick. The carving is wrapped with a fancy sterling silver bezel that measures 7 mm high from its base. There is a natural white Keshi pearl, set in sterling silver attached to the Buddha carving with a movable hing. The cultured pearl measures 13 X 4 mm and is the irregular shape typical of fresh water keshi pearls. Above the pearl is a tear drop shaped Ethiopian opal set with a sterling silver bezel. The opal measures 7 X 5.5 X 3.5 mm. The back of this stunning Ethiopian opal tear drop is open so that it is able to catch the light and reflect a golden color that seems to glow. The pendent is hung from the Peruvian opal necklace by a sterling silver bail that measures 10 X 6.5 mm.
The Peruvian opal beads used to make this piece are hand faceted rondelle shapes that range in size from 12 X 8 mm to 12 X 4 mm. The beads have a range of colors from very pale pink to rose pink and mauve rose pink. There are a very few natural inclusions in these beads that appear as dark grey specks on their surface. The inclusions are on only a few of the beads.
The hand made sterling silver clasp measures 18 X 15 mm at its base and is 12 mm thick from the base to the top of the pink Peruvian opal cabochon setting. The opal is oval in shape and set with a sterling silver "royal crown" decorative bezel. The clasp has a tab closure for security.
The Peruvian opal bead necklace with the clasp measures 17.5 inches long. The pendent sets 3 inches below the center of the necklace. The necklace, clasp and pendent weigh 103 grams.
