Powder Blue Owyhee American opal beads from the sacred "Indian Springs" at Owyhee Oregon are brought together here with vintage Native American sterling silver bench beads to make this one of a kind necklace. The beads are strung on medium weight jewelers wire and secured with a hand made sterling silver box clasp with a "powder blue" Owyhee opal cabochon bezel set on top.
The opal beads used to make this necklace are semi round and measure between 12 to 13 mm each. They are well matched in size and color, with natural variations in their surface areas. The blue opals from the springs in Owyhee Oregon, USA are a recent gem discovery. The beautiful powder blue color is natural and pairs very well with sterling silver.
The vintage sterling silver beads used in this necklace are hand made in the Native American traditional style using their traditional bench bead techniques. They were made between 1960 and 1980 and I acquired them at auction from Gallop New Mexico, USA. Each bead measures 16 X 14 mm and has a traditional "stamp " design around it. They are in excellent condition.
This is a one of a kind piece of modern South West style jewelry!
