Eighteen inches of drama takes place in this red jasper and cultured fresh water pearl necklace with a fan shaped cloisonne pendent.
The cloisonne fan shaped pendent measures 35 x 42 mm with a flying dragon motif in red, green and gold on a brown back round. The dragon is depicted as flying through clouds as if in search of something elusive. Chinese lore describes the dragon as a creature on a journey to capture the "flaming pearl," which is thought to represent perfection.
Hanging from the cloisonne dragon pendent is a 12 mm cultured fresh water semi round pearl, naturally creamy white with deep luster and colorful orient in golden blush tones. The cultured pearl has an antiqued brass bead cap crowning it and dangles just out of reach for the dragon.
10 mm round red jasper beads and 6 mm red jasper smaller beads are wrapped with antiqued brass wire to make up the necklace portion of this dramatic dragon tale. The 10 mm round red jasper beads each have antiqued bras bead caps.
A gold plated "rope" toggle clasp ties the necklace together.
The fan shaped cloisonne pendent shows ware on the gold plate back side were the gold has worn away. On the front of the pendent at the fan handle there is a drop of molten glass that may have happened during the cloisonne process since it uses hot molten glass to fill the spaces created by the metal wire that draws the motif picture.
