Beautifully chased and relief with fruit ornaments, both bases are engraved with an armorial crest.
One fitting into the other as a lid.
Gilt (gold washed) interior.
Marked with German (800, crescent moon and crown) silver marks and maker's mark for the renowned silversmith Simon Rosenau, French import marks (Simon Rosenau had a branch in Paris - see below).
Very good condition.

Simon Rosenau (1839-1920) started in Kissingen in 1862, he also had a branch in Paris. He was first listed as a "Hofantiquar" (supplier of silver to the royal Bavarian court).
