Here is a stunning pair of hand-painted turtle (terrapin) soup bowls from Cauldon, England. Each bowl features a finely detailed rendering of a terrapin in a naturalistic aquatic setting. The bowls are completely encrusted in gold; the wavy rims are finished in a blue border dotted with gold.
The species are identified on the back of the bowl as Painted Terrapin and Chaibassa Terrapin.
