This is a duster style fashion coat probably made in the 1870s for a French fashion or a china doll. I think that coats are hard to come by from the earlier eras so I am excited about this find. It feels almost like a very soften wool or something similar. It feels a bit like flannel, but I do not think that it is flannel. It measures 13 3/4 inches long from collar to hem in the front and is 15 inches long in the back. Notice the princess seaming in the back. From shoulder to shoulder is a bit over 5 inches. Sleeves are 5 1/4 inches long. Sleeve width is 13/4 lying flat at the shoulder. The button on the front is just for show; there is not button hole and judging by thread color, it looks to have been added later. I have pinned it closed. I find no holes or tears in this piece. If you have a favorite doll in want of a stylish coat, this piece may be just what you are looking for. Please feel free to request photos or ask questions. Do take a look at my other early doll items and thank you for shopping my store.
