This is a fantastic and early calico bonnet probably from the mid 1800s. The calico print is very sweet and the construction of the bonnet only enhances it. The back is my favorite part; I love the way it narrows at the neck and then flares out at the bottom. This is the first time I have seen this particular construction. Also it is expertly lined and a bit of the original ties remain. Inside, from tie to tie it measures 4 1/2 inches. My doll who is modeling it has a head circumference of 6 3/4 inches. If you are in need of an early bonnet, you might want to consider this one. I find it more difficult every day to find these small early bonnets and they are just the perfect accessory to the early dolls. Lay-a-way is always an option. Please feel free to ask questions or request more photos. Do take a peek at my other early doll items and thank you for shopping Red Dog Dolls.
