To me, this doll is quite incredible. She is a rather elusive creature. She is a Black, cloth doll made in the 1860s and dressed in fashion doll clothing. I admit that her silk outfit is very tattered. But I am glad that she still wears it because it is proof of her existence. Most old Black cloth dolls are not dressed in silk from any time period that I can recall. Her skirt was even decorated with a lovely pink silk flounce and she was even allotted a red silk petticoat. Clothing has been treadled stitched or hand stitched. There are remnants of pink silk on her head. She wears her original apron which I think helped protect the front of her skirt. She stands about 9 3/4 inches tall. If you are a lover of the early and elusive, this doll may be perfect for you. Please feel free to ask questions or request more photos. Do take a look at my other early doll items and thank you for shopping Red Dog Dolls.
