Everything about this doll is special! If you are a lover of primitive, folk art dolls I am sure that you can appreciate her. Just look at her face- it is beyond fabulous. And she is entirely hand carved. At 14 1/2 inches tall, her head and torso are carved from one piece of wood. Look at the thickness of the wood! It measures close to 1 3/4 inch thick. Legs and arms are jointed and I believe that the legs were made from a piece of furniture. Notice that the outside of the legs retain a stained and varnished appearance. On the top of her head you will see a tiny metal hook. I cannot say why that is there. I have tried to photograph a good deal of her hardware so you can have an idea of her construction. I believe that she is late 1800s to early 1900s. The dress is sewn on her and was made probably in the 20s or 30s. Please let me know if you have any questions about this spectacular doll or if you need more photos. Do take a look at my other items and thank you for shopping Red Dog Dolls.
