This is a fabulous, early wax doll from the 1840s or earlier and stands about 13 inches tall. She is in unrestored condition wearing her original clothing. This is absolutely a beautiful doll. Her bonnet could use a bit of repair in the back and there is some shredding to the very early silk apron and capelet. I want you to notice the early shoes on this doll; she looks like she could have popped out of a Jane Austen story. Also note that the legs have been wrapped in silk up to the crotch. There is a tiny ribbon detail on the neckline of the front of her dress and there is a silk rosette on the back. She has blue glass eyes, and I wish I could have added photos of the hands; they each have 3 fingers and a thumb and are beautifully made of leather. If you like you dolls to have the worn intimacy of time and be all original, this doll needs to be in your collection. Please feel free to ask questions or request more photos and do see my other early items. Thank you for shopping Red Dog Dolls.
