DeMatteo Studio Large Hand Wrought Sterling Silver Pitcher
Heavy hand wrought sterling silver water or drinks pitcher made in the DeMatteo Studio.
Stepped collar base leads up to a repeating band of raised and reticulated cala lilies.
The studio and DeMatteo mark covers several members of the same silversmithing family - William Gaetano DeMatteo, his son William (Bill) Lawrence DeMatteo (1923-1988) and Chip DeMatteo. The elder DeMatteo worked for Reed and Barton before starting his own venture in 1919. When Bill left his father's shop he became Master Silversmith at Colonial Williamsburg. He also worked for many years for Georg Jensen in New York before starting a firm, Hand and Hammer, with his son Chip.
