The fine sapphire is certified as untreated by American Gemological Laboratories of New York -- one of the most respected gem labs in the world, and frequently utilized by the likes of Sothebys and Christies. The certification from AGL indicates natural, untreated sapphire of Cambodian origin. Almost all sapphire sold today is heat-treated to some degree. Untreated sapphire is extremely rare and sought-after. The AGL report will be provided to the buyer.
Total weight of this stunning jewel is 7.6 grams. It features a medium to medium-dark blue, faceted, untreated natural sapphire of approximately 0.85ct, set in a millegrain-edged bezel setting. (Weights and measurements estimated, as permitted by mounting). Surrounding the sapphire is a halo of accent diamonds, which also extend about a half inch along each side of the pin, in bead-settings, accented by millegrain edging. The total number of full cut diamonds is 24, weighing an estimated 0.24ct in total. Color is H-J, clarity estimated VS2-SI2. The bar pin measures 3-1/8" in length, and 3/8" at the widest point. The mounting is acid-tested, platinum-topped, 18kt yellow gold. The pin closes with a safety catch and is in excellent working order. Overall, the pin is in excellent vintage condition.
