An early 20th century 14kt gold stickpin, with opal cabochon and an Old European cut diamond providing the color and sparkle. The opal has good play-of-color, primarily blue-green, but also with a touch of orange, depending how the light hits it. The diamond possesses beautiful color and brilliance. The bezel settings for both stones display a satin finish to the gold, while the length of the pin itself is a brilliant gold finish. This is a special piece for stickpin collectors.
Total weight of the stickpin is 2.0 grams. The piece is unmarked, but tested as 14kt gold. The crystal opal cabochon measures approximately 8 x 6mm. The diamond is an Old European brilliant cut, estimated G color and VS2 clarity, and weighs approximately 0.07ct. (Measurements estimated as permitted by mounting). The pin is 3" in length. There is one very minor internal "crazing" line in the opal (not unusual for opal) that is almost impossible to see without a loupe, and the overall condition of this vintage piece is excellent.
This charming, antique stickpin will arrive in a fine quality presentation box.
