Rhodolite garnet is one of the most desirable of the red garnet family, noted for its beautiful, unique, raspberry-purplish color, along with its ability to take a high polish and display a warm, deep brilliance. All these properties are at play in this gorgeous, double-gemstone, rhodolite garnet ring set in 18kt gold. The simple yet elegant design consists of two trillion-cut (triangular shape with gently rounded sides) rhodolite garnets, each of approximately 1.50ct, set in an elongated oval motif, with the gold band running across between the two gemstones. Dating probably from the late 1980s, it is a bold yet sophisticated design, showcasing the magnificent, rich color, and superb faceting, of the rhodolite garnets.
Total weight of this rhodolite garnet and 18kt gold ring is 7.1 grams (nearly a 1/4 ounce of gold). It features two, trillion-cut, rhodolite garnets, raspberry-purple in color, and each weighing approximately 1.50ct. The garnets are set in an 18kt gold ring, stamped "18K" and acid-tested as such. The mounting displays wider shoulders which taper down to the bottom of the ring. The sides of the ring shank feature a ridged, rather than rounded side, enhancing the overall design. The setting measures 5/8" at is longest point, and 1/8" in width at the bottom of the ring. It is a size 6, and can be resized by your jeweler. There are a few miniscule, age-related scratches in the gold, visible with magnification. Overall, the ring is in excellent vintage condition. This unique rhodolite garnet ring will arrive in a fine quality presentation box.
