For the stickpin collector, a true find: a gorgeous, simple, yet striking Lapis Lazuli and 14kt gold stick pin, with hallmark for Vienna, 1866-1872. The fine, natural lapis lazuli top, approximately the size of a large pea, flecked with several specks of gold pyrite, shines with the deep, remarkable blue color seen only in lapis. It was a favorite stone in Europe in the 19th century, from where this pin originated. The lapis measures approximately 12mm across, and the total length of the pin is 3-1/4". It is hallmarked with the distinctive letter "A", in octagonal frame, denoting the Vienna assay office from 1866-1872. The remainder of the hallmark is indistinct. It is acid-tested as 14kt gold. A real find for lovers of lapis lazuli, and collectors of Victorian stickpins. Please note: there is no clasp with the pin -- it is sharp! This unique stickpin will arrive in a fine quality presentation box.
