Offered for consideration is a beautiful late 1800s-early 1900s black silk taffeta bodice (shirtwaist) blouse and petticoat and/or petticoat skirt for formal and/or mourning period wearing. The blouse has tiny pleats overall with a collar and slight ruffles to the waist hem and was designed to be closed with small metal hook & eye closures of which most are now missing. The skirt has a drawstring waist tie and several small ruffle layers to the hem. Both the blouse and the skirt are still in good condition, but there are a few tiny holes to the blouse and a few minor white discoloration markings found to the skirt that may or may not be removable. The pieces are clean, but were purchased from the estate having been in storage for many years. The blouse has approximate measurements of: bust 40", waist 36" and overall length 18". The skirt measures 41-1/2" in length. Neither has odor such as smoke, pet, mildew or mothball.
