Mt Washington Crown Milano Shoulder Scrolls and Flowers Marmalade Jar Signed

This gorgeous Victorian own Milano art glass Marmalade Jar was made by the Mount Washington Glass Company of New Bedford, Massachusetts, circa 1880s-1890s. The company originated in Boston in 1837 as the New Bedford Glass Works. It was purchased by W.L. Libbey in 1870 and moved to New Bedford, when the company was renamed the Mount Washington Glass Works. In 1876 it was reorganized and renamed the Mount Washington Glass Company, which was its name until 1894, when it merged with the Pairpoint Mfg. Company, a renown maker of silver.

This signed Mt. Washington Crown Milano Marmalade Jar is decorated with the Shoulder Scrolls and Flowers featuring a light pink bordered top that's surrounded by high relief gold gilt rococo designs that go around the entire piece. The main body of the jar is decorated with find floral scenes, with a highly detailed large bouquet on the front and back, and smaller ones on the sides of the piece.

Signed on the base with the purple Crown Milano signature (see last photo). The silver plated lid is signed M.W. and numbered "1406". The silver plate is in excellent condition as is the rest of the piece, it's a stunning piece of 125 year old hand decorated art glass!

CONDITION: No chips, cracks, scratches, sickness or repairs. The lid is original and without dents, corrosion or other damage. It is in excellent condition for a piece that's about 125 years old.

REFERENCE: The Crown Milano Marmalade Jar in the book Mt. Washington Art Glass by Betty Sisk. on the top of page 122 is identical to this one, except theirs is priced in the book at $1500-$2500!

This Shoulder Scrolls and Flowers design was done with both light yellow, and light pink boarders around the top. This decor is shown on several pieces in the book Mt. Washington Art Glass by Betty Sisk. See pages 94, 95, 103, 107, and 125 for like designs.

SIZE: Approximately 5" W x 4-1/2" H to the top of the lid.

I've included lots of photos, please take a look and please message me if you have any questions.
