Here's a rare, large and beautiful Gallé Faience Pottery jardiniere. Beautifully made to mimic a woven wicker wall pocket / jardiniere. The base features a wonderfully decorated Art Nouveau decor featuring ferns, mushrooms, and butterflies around vining flowers in bloom. The top features an Art Nouveau dragonfly visiting a group of blossoming flowers. Overall a wonderful, and rare piece of Emile Gallé Art Nouveau art pottery!
Properly signed (see photos), with the signature dating it to about 1877 - 1888.
This piece is documented in the wonderful Galle Faience Pottery Book - La céramique de Gallé, as documented on page 116, plate 97 (see my photos).
Size is ~ 12" tall x 7" wide.
Condition: There are a few glaze skips, but I don't see any chips or other issues. Wear to base commensurate with age. I've included 9 photos, please take a look.
