This is a beautifully manufactured Georgian 15ct solid gold black enamel, turquoise and split seed-pearl gemstone 'memorial' ring. The head of the ring is rectangular in shape and of size 13.0mm(east to west) x 10.0mm. It exhibits a central rectangular panel(8.0mm x 5.5mm) of 'woven plaited hair' encapsulated behind a glass cover and bordered by alternating turquoise and split seed-pearl gemstones. These are each of size 1.75mm. There are engraved 'name initials' to the reverse side of the head of the ring. The upper regions of the shank display 'gold gilt engraving' surrounded in a sea of black enamel, a feature which enhances the appearance and character of the ring. There is a (15ct)(.625) gold stamp marking on the inside circumference of the shank which equates to the gold fineness of the ring. Size 'V'(UK), 11.0(US). Weighs 2.8 grams. The ring is in very nice condition throughout with genuine gemstones, black enamel intact and without repair.
*Black enamel is a vitreous(glassy) layer applied to the gold metal by fusion(melting the liquid by heat) and is used for decorative or protective purposes.
