Texas Hill Country Treasures offers a pair of hand painted Satsuma Vases. Satsuma ware (薩摩焼 Satsuma-yaki) is a type of Japanese pottery originally from Satsuma Province, southern Kyūshū. This example is hand painted, and though they are a matching pair, you can se that some of the faces are different as are some of the poses in the similar scenes. They are lavishly decorated with blossoming trees & a view of Mt. Fuji in the distance. There is a group either playing or arguing near the house. A Geisha is bringing an item to a man resting on the porch. The colors are rich, and the scenery is beautiful. There is a small hairline to the bottom (underside) of one of the vases, but not noticeable when displayed. These will make a nice addition to your collection. The pair measures approximately 7 1/2" H x 3 1/2" wide.
