Texas Hill Country Treasures is proud to offer a recent estate find of an Enchanting Texas Hill Country Bluebonnet Painting by listed Texas artist Mae Barbee Bruening ~ This is a stunning, large example of her original oil on canvas work. There are Bluebonnets, Indian blanket, Heritage Oaks, Cactus, Rolling Hills, and Scenic Views It is signed on the front lower left corner, as well as the artists name and address being printed on the back of the canvas. This piece measures approximately 20"H x 30"L- canvas only, and 24"H x 34"L including the frame.

Mae Barbee Bruening was born in 1908, in Texas. Mae studied under artists in Chicago, Il., Laguna Beach, CA., and Paris, France. Mae was an active exhibitor, teacher and painter in the San Antonio art community. She was a charter member of the River Art Group, an active participant in the San Antonio Art League, and member of the board of directors of the Wonderland Art Galley, where she taught in their instructional program. Mae Bruening was named Artist of the Month in July, 1966 by St. Mary's University. Mae's art work can be found in many Texas churches. Mae Barbee Bruening died in 1994.
