This is a fabulous vintage turquoise ring constructed on three tiers! The first layer has twelve cabochon turquoise stones that alternate between sizes. The second layer has eight similarly sized stones with the crown having the largest turquoise cabochon. They are all prong set in silver with a 4 mm yellow gold band. I love this ring because of the different colored turquoise stones that range from the traditional robin's egg blue to a darker earth green. The variation may be a choice of the artisan as well as the effects of time on this porous stone.
The band is not marked, but it tested as 10 karat gold.
The ring weighs 5.4 grams and is a size 7 1/2. It is in very good condition although a few of the stones show wear at the sides that have come in contact with the adjacent prongs. The face of the ring is 20 mm (7/8 inch) and it sits about 12 mm off the finger.
