These are a fabulous pair of earrings and so unique! They 14 karat yellow gold earring in the form of a hooka! The base is a bulbous bowl with a decorative scroll band that encircles it. It looks as if it once had black enamel inset in the design, but sadly much of this is lost. The hose is formed by a twisted gold wire that snakes in and out and terminates in a red enamel mouth tip. The shaft has three section that can be seen through the hose. The tobacco bowl is also decorated with an outer band and small dots which are filled with black enamel. There is some loss to some of this enamel as well, but it does not detract from the beauty and intricacy of these earrings.
The earrings are stamped "585" on the lever backings and tested as 14 karat gold. They hang about 1 1/2 inches (4 mm) and weigh 2.2 grams each. They are in very good condition except for the enamel loss as mentioned.
