Today I am selling a lovely Victorian turquoise and gold brooch. It is in the shape of a bow with ribbons stretching to each side. In the middle are five turquoise cabochons set in raised bezel settings in the shape of a flower with a rectangular ruby in the center. On the ribbons and the bow below the flower are single oval turquoise cabochons. The gold is engraved with a foliate design. This was originally the top of a larger pendant or locket, since there is a loop behind the turquoise and ruby flower. It is not hallmarked but acid tests positive for 14 karat gold. The pin is curved to shape brooch and is a little loose but stays in the C clasp securely.
CONDITION: Very good for its age. The turquoise cabs are all intact and uniform in color, with one that has a surface crack. The ruby is intact and in good condition. As stated in the description above, there was a pendant or locket hanging from a loop behind the flower. Minor tarnish to the 14k gold.
CIRCA: Mid Victorian era
MEASUREMENTS: 1 1/4 inches wide and 1/2 an inch tall from the bottom of the bow to the top of the flower; weighs 3.6 grams
