Today I am selling a vibrant Victorian saphiret brooch. Saphiret is the name of a type of art glass made in the Victorian era with real gold to create a lustrous aqua blue and mauve purple iridescent color. The cabochons in this brooch are frosted and teardrop shaped, with a round one in the middle, all prong set into brass. It forms a six point star or a six petal flower. The pin is a little loose but stays closed securely in the C clasp. There is also a loop on the back to add a bail or jump ring to turn it into a pendant.
CONDITION: Very good for its age. One teardrop cab has a small gouge in it, probably done during the manufacturing process (see photo #3). Only light scratches on the other saphirets. Minor general tarnish to the brass.
CIRCA: Late Victorian era
MEASUREMENTS: a little over 1 1/8 inches tall and 1 5/16 inches wide
