Today I am selling a wonderful large Victorian sterling and gold locket. It is in the shape of a heart, embellished with four rose gold flowers and four yellow gold leaves lining the curved sides. There is a cursive monogram of the letters 'LF' on the back. In the interior are two sterling silver rims (both hallmarked) and both glass covers, one of which is covering cross hatched brunette hair. It is not hallmarked but acid tests positive for sterling silver and the applied gold is 9 karat. A loop is soldered to the top but no bail or jump ring is attached. The hinge moves smoothly; it closes securely but gaps slightly.
CONDITION: Very good for its age. General tarnish and darkening to the sterling silver. No dents but minor scratches on both the front and the back. Tiny nicks to the edges. As stated in the description above, it gaps slightly.
CIRCA: Late Victorian Era
MEASUREMENTS: 1 13/16 inches tall including loop and a little over 1 1/2 inches at its widest
