Today I am selling a sweet Victorian pearl diamond brooch. A yellow gold crescent moon is lined with seed pearls, with a starburst or sunburst in the center. Each ray is wavy and lined with pearls, and in the middle is a prong set diamond. It is not hallmarked but acid tests positive for 14 karat gold. The pin is tight and stays closed securely in the C clasp. A curved hook on the back at the bottom allows you to hand a watch or locket from it.
CONDITION: Excellent for its age. All of the pearls are intact with very little nacre wear, but a couple may be replacements since they are more champagne than pale grey like most of them. The diamond is in good shape with no issues that I can see, and is held securely in place by the prongs. Minor tarnish, mostly on the back, to the 14k gold.
CIRCA: Late Victorian era
MEASUREMENTS: a little over 1 inch in diameter; weighs 3.4 grams
