Today I am selling a sweet Victorian cameo pendant. The oval shell carving is very detailed and high relief, complete with a sharp facial features and vines in her hair, possibly representing a bacchante or maenad. It is bezel set into black glass, which is then set into a silver plated frame. The original silver bail is attached to the loop at the top.
CONDITION: Good for its age. No damage to the cameo, but there is dirt in the crevices and around the edges. There is a chip at the very top of the black glass, right under the loop, but it is mostly visible only from the back. Minor tarnish and wear to the silver plated frame, but no dents.
CIRCA: Late Victorian era
MEASUREMENTS: almost 1 5/8 inches tall including bail and 15/16 of an inch at its widest
