Today I am selling a sweet Victorian onyx floral brooch. It is small and oval, with a slightly concave piece of onyx covering the front. A raised gold flower set with seed pearls is on top of the onyx. The back, which looks like it was soldered on at a later time, acid tests positive for 14 karat gold. The pin is tight and stays in the C clasp securely.
CONDITION: Excellent for its age. No chips or cracks to the onyx. All pearls are intact but the grey one in the middle may be a replacement. The pearl above the grey one has a chip, and the rest have slight nacre wear. Minor tarnish to the 14k gold.
CIRCA: Mid Victorian era
MEASUREMENTS: almost 13/16 of an inch wide and 9/16 of an inch tall; weighs 3.95 grams
