Today I am selling a gorgeous pair of Victorian French earrings. The hollow, raised designs are scroll or 'S' shaped with a ruffle in the middle. The top and bottom sections of the scroll are enameled white with an x pattern down the center. The ruffled parts are enameled a dark blue and have flat cut garnets bezel set on top. They are hallmarked but it is illegible; both acid test positive for 14 karat gold. The wires hinge open and hook securely to the top above the scroll, and are in good working order. There are loops behind the base that once held drops.
CONDITION: Very good for their age. Minor enamel to the white area below the ruffle on both earrings. The garnets are intact with no damage. Both wires have been reattached to the backs of the earrings with solder at the base, and one has a repair on the wire itself. At stated in the description above, the loops behind the base are missing their drops. Light scratches and tarnish to the 14k gold.
CIRCA: Late Victorian era
MEASUREMENTS: almost 1 3/16 inches long including wire and 1/2 an inch at their widest; weigh 2.25 grams
